The simple DESCRIPTION OF AN ENGRAVING, is: a metal or wood plate has an image etched onto it, then plate is inked, and image is transferred to paper in a press. So, Antique prints, engravings, were made from engraved, etched or lithographed printing plates. These handmade plates were made of wood or metal. Each print made from the plate is considered to be an original work of art. These printing plates were only good for a limited number of creations as they physically wore out. The engraved artwork is thus limited.

Antique engraved prints have become one of the most popular antiques to collect. They are easily stored, can decorate walls and are good value – certainly much better value than a modern reproduction. A modern prints will have virtually no resale value, whereas an antique engraving should increase in value.
We sell only original, antique engravings.
When we state a date of publication, it is a known to be accurate, and print is that old. We don't sell modern reproductions.
